Description
The sculpture is a version of Elmgreen & Dragset’s outdoor sculpture “HE” which is located by the harbor in Helsingør, Denmark. The version in Helsingør is made of polished and stainless steel, and blinks once an hour. Astrup Fearnley Museet’s sculpture is in gold leaf and does not blink. The sculpture rests in the same pose as The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen and therefore appears as a modern and masculine version of this icon. Unlike The Little Mermaid, “He” does not have a fish tail, but two perfectly normal legs.
