In May amnesia never kiss us on the mouth (2013-), an ongoing project presented as part of the exhibition at the Astrup Fearnley Museum, Abbas and Abou-Rahme use found video material from the web. The videos show different communities in Palestine, Iraq, Syria and Yemen regaining a sense of dignity through song and dance – the feeling of being “a community for a moment” as the artists themselves have expressed it.

About the artists: Basel Abbas (born 1983, Cyprus) and Ruanne Abou-Rahme (born 1983, USA) live and work in Ramallah, Palestine and New York. They studied in the UK in the 2000s, and the music scene they were introduced to there became an important influence on their work. It was also in this context that they started their collaboration. Their work has been shown at major biennales and museums internationally.

As an extension of most of the exhibitions shown at the Astrup Fearnley Museum, sturdy textile tote bags known as Art Bags are produced. The graphics for these tote bagene are a result of a close collaboration between Astrup Fearnley Museum and the artists. As part of a limited edition, you won’t find these bags anywhere else.
