Film Workshop with Cauleen Smith | Cinemateket

The workshop will be held at Cinemateket. Participation is free, but places are very limited and sign up is needed. Lunch will be served.

Cinemateket and the Astrup Fearnley Museet invite young filmmakers to a workshop with Los Angeles based artist Cauleen Smith, in connection with her exhibition The Deep West Assembly. Smith is internationally known for her visionary works drawing upon experimental film making from the 1960s and 1970s, the genre of science fiction, developments in the geosciences, as well as African and African diaspora thought and experience. A program featuring her films will be shown for the first time in Norway at Cinemateket in September. During the workshop, all participants will have the opportunity to showcase their self-produced films, up to a maximum of 30 minutes. The films will be screened in a plenary session followed by discussions, with advice, feedback, and input from the artist and other participants. The film should be in progress.

Students and emerging artists working with film as a medium are encouraged to participate.
