Welcome to the launch of Leonard Rickhard: Between construction and collapse

This publication is both a continuation of the exhibition presented at Astrup Fearnley Museet in 2024 and a contribution to documenting the vital role Leonard Rickhard has played in Norwegian art. The book is richly illustrated with reproductions of artworks, archival material, and exhibition photographs, and features texts that open new perspectives on Leonard Rickhard’s universe, written by Barry Schwabsky, Sinziana Ravini, Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, and Sabeth Buchmann – as well as an essay by the editors Steinar Sekkingstad and Solveig Øvstebø.

The launch will take place in the building that houses the Astrup Fearnley Collection. The book will be available for purchase, and refreshments will be served.

The publication is a substantial, hardcover volume of 448 pages, featuring texts in both Norwegian and English. Designed by Petri Henriksson / Blank Blank Studio. Published by Mousse Publishing and Astrup Fearnley Museet.

Marit Eikemo (f. 1971) is from Odda and lives in Bergen, Norway. She has previously worked as an editor, director of the Literature Symposium in Odda, publishing editor, and director of Cornerteatret in Bergen. She is the author of six novels, and also wrote the libretto for the new chamber opera Terminus, which premiered at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in the spring of 2025, with music by Therese Birkelund Ulvo.
