Anja Lauvdal | Concert
10 May, 16:00 — 17:00
Composer and musician Anja Lauvdal in dialogue with Grammars of Light
Composer and musician Anja Lauvdal has a distinctive ability to evoke a wide range of sonic atmospheres. In her work, she explores what sound does to the landscapes and spaces we inhabit—how sound, much like light, shapes the way we are present in the world.
She describes this as “weathering music,” or being within the music. This condition resonates with Cerith Wyn Evans’ installation StarStarStar/Steer (Transphoton), where slender, towering columns pulse between light and darkness. As Anja Lauvdal enters this space, sound and light converge in a way that opens up a sensorial, time-based experience.
Seating available. The concert is included in the ticket (free for members).
Please note: On the occasion of the concert, the exhibition will be open exclusively to concert attendees. For other visitors, the exhibition closes at 4:00 PM.
Anja Lauvdal (b. 1987) is one of the most distinctive musicians and composers of her generation, educated at the jazz programme at NTNU. She has created commissioned works for, among others, INA/GRM (FR), Ultima (Thoughts Unsaid, then Forgotten), and Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (Havgaver, 2025).
As a pianist and synthesist, she moves fluidly between improvisational music, jazz, and experimental pop. Lauvdal has received several awards, including the Edvard-prisen, and released her critically acclaimed solo album From a Story Now Lost in 2022.
