AMOUR (2026) is a kinetic sound sculpture composed of fragmented, skeletal forms that intertwine and move through mechanical processes. The structure appears to breathe, cough and even snore, evoking the intimacy and vulnerability of the human body.

Kim Hankyul considers the Museum Passage a kind of “non-place”, comparable to the spaces we pass through or linger in while on our way somewhere else. Such spaces are not only defined by movement, but also by moments of waiting, when we find ourselves between departure and arrival. The sculpture reflects this sense of being in between. Hanging from the ceiling, it occupies the passage without taking up floor space.

This winter, AMOUR will be on view in the museum’s foyer during opening hours.

“I hope this tree serves as a small sanctuary, if only for a brief moment, for those who find the winter season especially long and arduous.”
