In fall 2025, Astrup Fearnley Museet presented the event series Writing Art, inviting audiences to engage with recent works from the museum\u2019s collection through writing exercises based on ekphrasis. Ekphrasis, from the Greek \u00e9kphrasis meaning \u201cdescription,\u201d refers to a lyrical tradition in which words not only describe a work of art, but also help to create a new experience of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with poet Ibrahim Nasser, participants were introduced to three selected artworks from the Astrup Fearnley Collection: Almost Divine I <\/em>(2022) by Isabella Ducrot, The Elephants and the Fruits<\/em> (2022) by Shikh Sabbir Alam, and Yesterday on Shelves<\/em> (2023) by Mohammed Sami. Through participatory writing exercises, participants developed their own poetic interpretations, opening up new ways of experiencing and understanding the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
