To mark the closing of the exhibition Before Tomorrow and within the context of this autumn\u2019s program of performances, screenings, and lectures, Astrup Fearnley Museet is hosting a panel discussion with Gus Casely-Hayford, Director of the forthcoming V&A East, Solveig \u00d8vsteb\u00f8, Executive Director and Chief<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curator of Astrup Fearnley Museet, and Adam Weinberg, former Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art.The three institutional leaders will discuss what conditions and structures are needed to create museums that respond sensitively and effectively to the context in which they are based. The panel will also reflect on how museums with different institutional models can complement each other and hence strengthen the field of art and its societal role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJ-Set \/ performance at 20:00
<\/a>Cape Town-based DJ Atiyyah Khan will perform a new set to mark the closing of Before Tomorrow, connecting divergent and underrepresented music histories to tendencies and artistic practices in the exhibition.Khan\u2019s multipronged practice spans arts journalism, research, and sound archiving, writing for major newspapers in South Africa, and self-publishing. Common themes in her work focus on topics such as spatial injustice, untold stories of apartheid, jazz history, and underground art movements. As DJ El Corazon, her sets explore the connections of musical forms across borders to evoke curiosity and discover sonic possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event is part of Before Tomorrow Live \u2013 a program of performance, talks, sound, and screenings as an extension of the anniversary exhibition Before Tomorrow \u2013 Astrup Fearnley Museet 30 Years.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
