The performance will be held outdoors on the stairs in front of the museum. Free and open to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Origin of Death<\/strong><\/em> reflects on different forms of interconnectedness and further delves into Maheke\u2019s interest in exploring how dance, sound, and identity dialogue. By utilising storytelling from a range of sources: from sci-fi to diaristic notes, early sketches and texts (both found and written by the artist), as well as music and movement, the performance takes the shape of a meditation on the tenuous border between alterity and otherness via the figure of the vampire. Performed in collaboration with musicians Ndobo-emma and Adrian Barstad Andresen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Maheke’s<\/strong> (born 1985, France) multidisciplinary practice spans video, installation and sculpture through to interventions, dance and public conversations. His work has been shown in solo presentations at High Line Art, New York (2022), The Renaissance Society, Chicago, Illinois (2021); Collection Pinault, Paris, France (2021); Chisenhale Gallery, London, England (2019); Vleeshal Centre for Contemporary Art, Middelburg, Netherlands (2018); and South London Art Gallery, London, England (2016). He has participated in group exhibitions and festivals at institutions including ICA Miami, Florida (2019); Centre Pompidou, Paris, France (2018); Tate Modern, London, England (2017); and Serpentine Galleries, London, England (2016). He has been featured in major international exhibitions including Biennale du Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (2022); Glasgow International, Scotland (2021); 58th Venice Biennale, Italy (2019); Baltic Triennial 13, Estonia (2019); and Manifesta 12, Palermo, Italy (2018). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
