Exploring the Collection | New perspectives

Welcome to a guided tour exploring themes of photography in the Astrup Fearnley Collection.

This month, we invite you to a new Sunday tour series offering different thematic approaches to the collection. Through distinct perspectives, the works are seen in a different light, creating space for deeper engagement and new connections between them.

On Sunday, 1 February, we explore Photography with educator Minka Maaria Salonen.

The Astrup Fearnley Collection is one of the most comprehensive collections of international contemporary art in the Nordic region. It builds upon the collection of the museum’s founder, Hans Rasmus Astrup, who began acquiring works in the early 1960s.

The collection has continually evolved by actively engaging with current and relevant artistic practices that reflect the society we live in. Many of the works serve as witnesses to cultural, social, and political changes—yet they carry a timeless resonance.

The presentation of the collection is constantly changing. The current presentation features many of the most recent additions to the Astrup Fearnley Collection. Visitors can become acquainted with entirely new works acquired over the past five years, alongside some well-known and much-loved classics.

A guided tour lasts for 45 minutes and costs NOK 50.
If you are a member both the exhibition and tour is free.
