Curator walkthrough of the Astrup Fearnley Collection | For Members

Guided Tour of the Astrup Fearnley Collection with Senior Curator Owen Martin.

The Astrup Fearnley Collection is one of the most comprehensive collections of international contemporary art in the Nordic region. It builds upon the collection of the museum’s founder, Hans Rasmus Astrup, who began acquiring works in the early 1960s.

The collection has continually evolved by actively engaging with current and relevant artistic practices that reflect the society we live in. Many of the works serve as witnesses to cultural, social, and political changes—yet they carry a timeless resonance.

The presentation of the collection is constantly changing. With each reconfiguration, the artworks are placed in arrangements that evoke different associations and foster new dialogues. Each room provides space for individual works and invites encounters across generations, nationalities, media, and forms of expression.

This presentation features many of the most recent additions to the Astrup Fearnley Collection. Visitors can become acquainted with entirely new works acquired over the past five years, alongside some well-known and much-loved classics.

The walkthrough is for members and is conducted in English.
